COVID-19 UPDATE: South Lyon spike attributed to parties (including countywide totals)

An increase in COVID-19 cases near South Lyon can be attributed to graduation and prom parties, health officials said Monday. Fifty residents of the 48178 ZIP code, which covers the city, have tested positive for COVID-19 in the last 30 days -- a rate of 15 cases per 10,000 people, according to the county’s database as of Sunday, Aug. 2. The ZIP code has had 138 positive cases and 10 deaths since the pandemic began. That and more in today’s Wayne County Report for August 5, 2020.

Yesterday’s countywide health totals noted eight new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Taylor, upping the number this year to 850. No new deaths were reported – that total remains at 72.
