Craig Lyon was named director of the Department of Public Services in March 2021. For Lyon, this marks his second term of service with the City of Taylor.

Lyon comes back to Taylor after serving as director of Utilities and Municipal Services for the last decade in Pittsfield Charter Township, located outside Ann Arbor. Pittsfield is similar in size and population to Taylor, encompassing 28 square miles and 40,000 residents (Taylor is 24 square miles and has approximately 63,000 residents). Lyon supervised a 25-member staff and a $17.2M budget in Pittsfield.

Prior to serving in Pittfield, Lyon worked from 1999-2010 in Taylor, where he was the city engineer and added the title of director of the Water and Sewer Department from 2006-10.

Earlier, Lyon worked for Wade-Trim Associates as a staff engineer/client representative and an Engineer I from 1997-99. He also worked for Hennessey Engineers from 1992-97.

Lyon holds a Bachelor of Science in Engineering Technology from Lawrence Technological University and an Associate’s Degree in Science from Henry Ford Community College.
